Founded by Nomaza Nongqunga Coupez, the Makwande Art Residency is a non-profit contemporary visual art organisation that fosters creativity, research, and experimentation through its international residency program for emerging African Female artists. Fundraising and donor support play a decisive part in creating and running its projects.

We work to elevate African female artists and lift their work beyond their disadvantaged backgrounds. As our artists succeed, their impact reverberates, inspiring other women to reach for their full potential. We hope to show African women artists that it is possible to live a fulfilled life doing what you love.

We welcome and need all donations from personal and private donors, from as little as 50 € as every cent counts in helping us achieve our vision.
